Aperture is the measure of the size of the len's iris. The wider the aperture, the more light let in by the lens. A narrow aperture lets less light in, resulting in a greater depth of field. A greater depth of field allows more stuff to be in focus. A Wider depth of field helps focus on one object through the lens.
